BusinessIntroduction To KRSSO

KRSSO Cornerstone: Transparency, Accountability, and Trust.

Introduction

The **Khpelwan Rehabilitation Social Services Organization (KRSSO)**, established in 2003 and headquartered near Kabul University, is a multi-sectoral non-governmental organization dedicated to the sustainable development and empowerment of the Afghan people. Managed by a professional team of social activists, medical doctors, and technical experts, KRSSO operates under the guiding philosophy that integrated national development requires a firm rejection of war, social injustice, and inequality. The organization’s vision is to foster a harmonious Afghanistan where all citizens—regardless of gender—possess freedom of choice, dignity, and equitable access to socio-economic and political opportunities. Under the leadership of Executive Director Mr. Bashir Nasiri and Deputy Director Shiringul Sahilah, KRSSO has positioned itself as a catalyst for change, focusing heavily on the empowerment of women and children who face severe restrictions and malnutrition in the current socio-political landscape.

KRSSO’s operational strategy is built upon five core pillars: humanitarian response, sustainable livelihoods, human capital development, socio-economic empowerment, and infrastructure rehabilitation. Its thematic interventions are extensive, ranging from the provision of **WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene)** facilities and emergency food distribution to the promotion of modern agricultural techniques and the development of marketing linkages for rural farmers. In the education sector, the organization proactively advocates for girls’ education beyond the sixth grade, supporting community-based schools and online learning resources to overcome current educational barriers. By maintaining strategic partnerships with international bodies such as **UN Women, JICA, UNOPS, and WHO**, KRSSO continues to implement high-impact projects that rehabilitate vital rural infrastructure—including clinics, schools, and irrigation canals—while simultaneously providing a platform for the voices of marginalized women to be heard at the national level.

Mission

KRSSO’s mission is to support sustainable development in Afghanistan through programs related to education, humanitarian assistance, health and hygiene, agriculture, livelihood development, and rehabilitation, while working in partnership with national and international organizations, aid agencies, and communities.

KRSSO Experience Of The Issues

To Be Addressed

KRSSO has experience implementing projects of different kinds. Over the years, it has worked with men, women, and
children with various kinds of vulnerabilities and disabilities in community-based rehabilitation, such as providing
physiotherapy, vocational training, mobility training, basic education, job creation, awareness-raising, and sporting
events. KRSSO has been one of the first focused NGOs in Afghanistan to shift its approach in the programming
framework to a rights-based approach. In 2003, KRSSO worked in close cooperation with UNDP, representatives of the
ILO, and the Ministry of Labor, and Social Affairs to develop a pioneering inclusive livelihood-mainstreaming project in
Kabul. KRSSO has worked closely with the UN and the government to develop the new model and document lessons
learned to inform policy and programming. This project was extremely successful and has achieved excellent development
